Yes, your observation is true in a way. Some versions DO NOT work with each other. Very often however, different versions also DO work with each other. We try to keep them compatible whenever we can. Still it is only safe when always keeping newest most recent version on both sides.
The reason: spacedesk is still free and we still don’t have the budget to work on “automatic update” feature and on comprehensive release management. Currently we still focus our development capacities on new core features. Do you have McAfee Antivirus-Software installed on the spacedesk Windows Pimary Machine (Server)? McAfee is known to cause such behavior.
This resolution limit only exists in the old spacedesk Viewer for Windows 7.
Please try the new spacedesk Viewer for Windows from the Microsoft Store.
There you should be able to define any custom resolution up to the native resolution.
Are both PC and smartphone device connected on the same LAN (local area network)? Maybe a third-party firewall software installed? Or VPN active? Please also check chapter “Troubleshooting – Network Connection” in the instruction manual https://spacedesk.net/user-manual/
The application did not exit. Connection over the network is successful. It is currently showing a black screen (“Display Off). This can have two reasons:
1. Is the additional display detached from Windows Desktop? Please check Windows Display Control Panel. If detached, then it can be attached for mirroring the existing display or extending the desktop by this additional display.
2. Possibly an error has occured. Maybe an incompatible product (e.g. splashtop WiredX Display) is installed?
Please also check chapter “Troubleshooting” in the instruction manual https://spacedesk.net/user-manual/

Such “mouse cage” functionality is not supported by spacedesk. There are various 3rd party utilities to do this. Just google for something like “mouse cursor lock software for Windows 10”. Please let us know which one of these tools works best for you. Other users are ocasionally asking similar questions.
Do you have anything to ask or discuss about spacedesk?
This is the support forum for spacedesk made by datronicsoft.
No support available here for DisplayLink, DuetDisplay or Twomon USB.
These are all different products from different companies.19 11 月, 2021 11:40 上午 回覆至： Do I get a blue screen with this nvidia video card driver version? #4512
We cannot test and analyze all Nvidia driver versions. All we know are the Nvidia driver versions of reported bluescreens. They all were below 461.09 (released: 2021.1.7). Thus we assume that any Nvidia driver version equal or higher than this should be save.
Please check the instruction manual https://www.spacedesk.net/user-manual/

Running Windows 10? Then the problem is usually caused by splashtop Wired XDisplay.
Uninstalling it will fix the problem.
spacedesk mouse can always be stuck due to network dropouts (better network connection -> less dropouts).
In addition to this, there are situations when after being stuck first, the remoted mouse is still trailing.
The reason: spacedesk mouse remoting network protocol is still lacking flow control.
Fix is not expected any time soon (development is currently busy with higher prioritized issues and topics).
Thus the only quick fix: Improve network performance and eliminate router. Routers always cause lags and hangs. Performance always improves when routers are circiumvented (either by connecting through WiFi-Hotspot or direct cable connection).
Do you have McAfee antivirus software installed on the Windows machine? McAffee antivirus sometimes randomly disconnects spacedesk without any notification.
spacedesk does neither touch nor use native display monitors plugged on the physical graphics adapter.
spacedesk only creates virtual monitors for network connected devices, laptops and PCs.
spacedesk video wall option can only use these additional virtual display monitors created by spacedesk.
spacedesk Windows Server always shows connected clients. Window can be seen in the taskbar and when maximized, it shows details about all connected clients.
Nevertheless there will be a password option within the next few months.

Why still use the old Windows viewer? Have you tried the new one from the Microsoft store?
Why connect manuallly via IP-Address? Does automatic discovery not work?
If connecting manually by IP-Address – are you sure you are not accidentally using a local host address? These start 127.x.x.x30 7 月, 2021 7:33 上午 回覆至： About “splashtop wired XDisplay needs to be uninstalled” #1641
splashtop wired XDisplay virtual display driver can be uninstalled and installed in their “Advanced” menu option.
Then splashtop wired XDisplay cannot do Windows Desktop Extension any more (only Desktop Duplication / Mirroring).
Then splashtop wired XDisplay can coexist with spacedesk.
Currently splashtop wired XDisplay installs TWO virtual display drivers:
OLD: WDDM Filter Hook Driver (for Windows 10 1511 which is not even supported by Microsoft any more!)
NEW: WDDM IddCx Indirect Display Driver (for Windows 10 1607 and above)
If splashtop only removed their OLD unused virtual display driver (WDDM Filter Hook).
Then wired XDisplay could perfectly coexist with spacedesk and even do Windows Desktop Extension.
