Black Screened when Using USB4 Cable

Hi,

My devices:

  • MSI Laptop (Windows 11)
  • Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro (HyperOS 2) (Supports USB3.1)
  • Both are installed with the latest spacedesk application.

When I was trying to connect my pad with USB4 cable, it went black-screened (as seen in the screenshot on Google Drive), and my laptop showed a prompt “1 connection pending…”

However, when I switched to USB2.0 cable, everything was fine.

I tried using the same USB4 cable with my USB2.0 mobile phone, everything was fine as well.

Maybe this problem is similar to https://www.spacedesk.net/support-forum/topic/does-it-not-support-usb-3-0/

Hi @qwer,

Thank you for the logs you sent. A few questions for our further investigation:
1. What model is the USB 4.0 you are using and is it a Thunderbolt cable?
2. Which port are you using in your PC to plug your USB 4.0 cable?

Hi,

  1. Yes, it is a Thunderbolt cable 5 cable (type c to c).
  2. I used Thunderbolt 5 port of my laptop.

Hi @qwer,

Unfortunately, we don’t have a Thunderbolt 5 cable and a device with a Thunderbolt 5 compatible port on our end so it might take some time to procure them. If connecting using an older USB 2.0 cable and a USB 2.0 port works for your device, you may continue to use it until a fix for this issue is released. We’ll make sure to update you once there is a fix for this issue. Thank you.

Hi @qwer,

Can you provide the exact model of the MSI laptop you’re using? Thank you.

Hi,

I am currently using MSI Vector 16 HX AI A2XWHG

Hi @qwer,

Would you know which among the following is your laptop’s model:
A2XWHG-476
A2XWHG-264
A2XWHG-074

Thank you.

I am not sure. But maybe it’s A2XWHG-264 (the specs correspond with my laptop)

16″QHD+ 240 Hz Display, Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 255HX, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD, Windows 11 Home

I have upgraded to Windows 11 Pro version.
