SpaceDesk Android no longer shows the LAN Discovery check box to find LAN Devices

For about a month now, the SpaceDesk app for Andriod is not showing Discovery check box to find LAN Devices as shown on the picture. I need to be able to disable LAN discovery because I don’t use that to connect to primary machines, but an IP I  created for that specific device, but as I’m not able to disable LAN discovery I can’t connect with that IP. If I press the + button and enter the IP manually it stays on „IP-Validation in progress for ever and never connects, which  did not occur when I was able to disable LAN discovery..  Why can’t I disable LAN discovey anymore and is there a workaround for this? Perhaps an older version of SpaceDesk?

Thanks in advance

Months and no reply. Is there any more useless forum? Hahaha. Cheers

Hi @gustavo-4,

Apologies for not replying. The feature was removed for consistency with other spacedesk Viewer apps for other platforms like iOS and Windows. But I will raise this to the development team to discuss if it needs to be returned or some other feature will be implemented. Will keep you updated. Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. If the feature can be put back or anything similar is implemented that’ll be great cause I often times establish connection through a VPN link, being each device on different Lan networks, the link on each side is the IP that I need to be able to submit manually (without it getting on “IP-Validation in progress“ for ever and never connecting, which is what happens now). It worked great before this change. Hope this is back soon, or anything similar is implemented.

Thanks again

  1. This is a very subtle and rare problem: Your network environment (incl. VPN) does  not support UDP network protocol (which is needed for spacedesk discovery). You can fix it on your end by enabling UDP network protocol (if possible).
  2. Older spacedesk Viewer versions didn’t have this problem. They could still directly connect via TCP network protocol in this situation. Newer Viewer version cannot do this any more (for various technical reasons).
  3. In the future, we will release a new spacedesk version (Viewer and Driver for Windows PC) which will support discovery through TCP network protocol. This will fix your issue. This might still take about three months to release.
