Quote from ImC4st on 14/01/2026, 17:40Im trying to use my laptop as a second monitor, I did everything right but it keeps saying that message and the screen is black, I already searched for a lot of ways to fix this but they wont work, some of the things I tried are searching for a way to change resolution but couldnt find one, idk why but the videos are old and the app seems to have more buttons so I just get stuck following the tutorials, I also searched here and there is one where spacedesk Rezn said to change my internet to private, the thing is that when I did that now the laptop wont connect, it says that it cant connect to a private conection or something like that and I cant find a way to enter via a password or something, please help

Try to set your connection to public again if that would enable you to connect. If you’re back to the original issue of encountering a black screen, please try the following steps below:
1. Go to Settings > Compression
2. Click on Encoding Type, then select Software Encoding JPEG (force always)If this doesn’t resolve your issue, please send us the logs of your Primary PC by opening the spacedesk Driver console as administrator and clicking on Diagnostics then follow the steps below:
1. Download the DebugView.
2. Check the Diagnostic Collection box.
3. Reproduce the issue e.g. by connecting the spacedesk Viewer app.
4. Uncheck the Diagnostic Collection box.
5. Click “Save All Information” button (this might take a while to finish).
6. Compress/Zip the folder which contains the logs, then attach to your next reply to this post. If the folder exceeds 512kb, you may upload it to Dropbox or Google Drive then include the download link on your next reply.Thank you.
