Displays Automatically Toggling Between Duplicate and Extend Modes

Page 1 of 2Next

A. Environment/Configuration:

  • Primary Display (Host): Windows 11 PC

  • Primary Driver: Spacedesk Driver v2.2.11

  • Secondary Display (Client): iPad 2024 (Spacedesk App v2.1.2)

  • Connection Type: Local Area Network (LAN)

B. Issue Description:

The connection previously worked without issue. However, in the most recent connection attempt via LAN, the displays started toggling abnormally between “Duplicate” and “Extend” modes when the host display mode is set to “Duplicate This Display”.

C. Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

The issue persists after attempting the following methods:

  • Restarting both machines (Host and Client).

  • Reinstalling the Spacedesk software.

  • Updating the host machine’s drivers.

  • Changing the encoding type.

Hi @mccotter,

Thank you for sending your logs. We are currently investigating this issue. In the meantime, have you tried clearing spacedesk Settings and also Windows Display Settings in the spacedesk Driver Console to try and resolve the issue? Thank you.

Hi @spacedesk-renz,

Thank you for the suggestion. I did try clearing both the spacedesk and Windows Display Settings as you mentioned, but unfortunately, it did not resolve the automatic switching issue.

Hi @mccotter,

Does the switching occur continuously or just upon connect?

Hi @mccotter,

Try turning off the Nvidia Overlay in the Nvidia app then check if the issue still occurs on your end.

Hi @spacedesk-renz,

I followed your advice and restarted the machine after disabling the Nvidia Overlay, but the issue still occurs after reconnecting.

To clarify, the switching is constant. It continuously toggles between the modes immediately after the connection is established.

I have recorded a video demonstrating what happens after the connection is established. Please review the attached link.

Hi @mccotter,

Do you have an external monitor that you can connect to your laptop? If so, can you also try duplicating your main display to it to see if the issue also occurs there? Thank you.

Hi @spacedesk-renz,

The issue still occurs when I connect to the external monitor.

Hi @mccotter,

Does the issue occur if only the external monitor is connected and spacedesk is turned off in your laptop?

Hi @spacedesk-renz,

Yes, the issue still occurs even with Spacedesk turned off when connecting to the external monitor.
