Lag and screen update issues on Galaxy Tab 3 10.1

Hello,

I am a new user of Spacedesk. Having first tried the program on a Samsung J5 phone I was encouraged to utilize this technology for every day use. However, on an old Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 I am experiencing serious lag. A Youtube ‘audio video sync test’ revealed that there is around 600ms lag in video. Using the mouse on the Tab screen requires a lot of patience as any mouse movement is seen on the screen 0.6 seconds later. Video playback is smooth at 30fps though.

It also seems the screen update stops for many seconds at times. It happens mostly when I drag a window from the Tab screen to main display. It seems to correlate with the cursor position ie. as soon as the cursor jumps to main display the Spacedesk display freezes and a part of the window being moved lingers there for severals seconds.

I am using a USB connection, two different cables and USB ports tested.  I have disabled audio. I have the tablet in portrait position using the native resolution of 800×1280.

What could be the cause? Is the Samsung tablet just undepowered or have I missed some crucial performance setting?

Thanks in advance

Hi @kansha9,

It might possibly be due to your device. If you have a more powerful Android device, you might try using spacedesk with the same settings for comparison. Lowering the “Image Quality” and “Resolution” of the viewer screen will also help in improving the performance. Also in some cases, changing the “Encoding Type” from “Hardware Encoding” to “Software Encoding” might improve performance depending on your Primary PC’s main display adapter. Please refer to our Documentation under the heading “Performance Tuning” for more performance improvement suggestions.
