10/100 ethernet or USB2 – which is better for my situation?
Quote from Linuxy Dragons on 30/06/2026, 09:16I recently replaced the tablet from my Peloton bike because it was having digitizer issues. The old tablet is still a perfectly serviceable 1080p display, so I decided to give it a second life as a monitor via Spacedesk. Right now it’s directly cabled to a Windows 10 PC over ethernet. The tablet’s ethernet port maxes out at 100mbit. It’s working OK.
I’m wondering if it would make more sense to cable over USB to take advantage of some additional bandwidth. It’s only a USB2 connection, so it would theoretically max out at something like 480mbit. For a 1080p display, would that extra speed really make a difference or should I be fine with I’m doing now?
Great product, by the way. Thanks for making this!

Got it, thanks for confirming. USB should perform better, but please try with both setups if you can so you can compare for yourself. You may turn on the FPS Meter in Settings > Quality/Performance to compare the FPS for both setups. Thank you!
