GPU selection for Hardware Encoding

Hello, I have a quite complex setup which I’m using spacedesk with and I’m have a particular problem trying to use the Hardware Encodin H264 option.

From looking at the logs, it seems to be trying to use my Integrated Intel Graphics to deal with the Hardware Enconding but it fails, how can I tell or force the spacedesk service to use any of the other 2 GPUs I have in my system?

My setup is a Notebook Dell G15, equipped with Intel i5-13450HX (spacedesk is trying to use this iGPU), then it also has a dGPU Mobile RTX 3050 6GB inside it, then I also have a eGPU RX 9060 XT 16GB which is my main GPU and the one that drives my main displays, in total I have 4 displays (including the notebook display)

Hi @jorge-22,

The reason why spacedesk is trying to use your integrated Intel GPU is because spacedesk chooses your PC’s main GPU for rendering. Currently, there is no option for the user to choose which GPU they can use for rendering.

Hello @spacedesk-renz

I’ve disabled the Integrated Graphics in the Bios and now there’s only the RTX and RX cards in the system, Hardware Encoding still doesn’t work and the auto-select option always tries the hardware encoding which continues to fail, I have to force software encoding for the transmission to work in this mode, any idea why Hardware Encoding isn’t working now?

Hi @jorge-22,

Have you installed the latest Driver Package V2.2.31? If you have but you still encounter this issue, please send us a complete copy of your logs by opening the spacedesk Driver console as administrator and clicking on Diagnostics then follow the steps below:

1. Download the DebugView.
2. Check the Diagnostic Collection box.
3. Reproduce the issue e.g. by connecting the spacedesk Viewer app.
4. Uncheck the Diagnostic Collection box.
5. Click “Save All Information” button (this might take a while to finish).
6. Compress/Zip the folder which contains the logs, then attach to your next reply to this post. If the folder exceeds 512kb, you may upload it to Dropbox or Google Drive then include the download link on your next reply. If you don’t want the files to be public, you may send it to info@spacedesk.net either as an attachment or as a link to the files.

Thank you.

Hello @spacedesk-renz

Unless I’m mistaken about the file location, this logs was already done with those steps as they’re listed in the app, is there any info missing from the files that are supposed to be there? And yes, my current console window for spacedesk says it’s version V2.2.31

Hi @jorge-22,

There should be more than 1 file there. Please refer to the image below:

Hello @spacedesk-renz

I was having a problem where clicking the Save All Information was not showing a dialog box asking where to save the logs, but here are they now.
