High CPU usage with spacedesk over USB

Hello,

I have a performance issue with spacedesk.

PC:
– Windows 10
– AMD Athlon X4 860K
– NVIDIA GTX 750 Ti (latest driver)
– 8 GB RAM

Tablet:
– Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+
– Connected via USB

Problem:
When I move the mouse over any application displayed on the tablet (Steam, Chrome, etc.), the application’s CPU usage jumps from around 2% to 40% while GPU usage stays almost 0%.

Could you please provide:
– an older Windows Driver (2.1.47 or 2.2.04),
– the matching Android APK,
– or any way to enable hardware encoding / GPU acceleration?

Is this expected behavior? Is there a way to enable GPU hardware encoding or reduce CPU usage?

This only happens when I move the mouse over an application on the tablet display. Moving the mouse on the desktop does not cause high CPU usage.

Thank you.

Hi @alierdem3822,

This is standard Windows behavior, not in any way affected by spacedesk. You can try checking with a physical monitor to see if it also happens there.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I tested the same applications on my physical monitors.

On my physical monitors there is no stuttering and no CPU spikes when moving the mouse.

The problem only occurs when the application is displayed on the spacedesk screen.

I also tested different codecs:
– H.264: higher CPU usage and more stuttering.
– MJPEG Forced: noticeably better.

Could this be related to spacedesk’s encoding or compatibility with GTX 750 Ti / first-generation NVENC?

Thank you.
