Touchscreen Windows Tablet viewer
Quote from jj-mich on 06/11/2025, 00:02I have a windows tablet with a detachable keyboard/mouse as my viewer. Is it really true that the only way for enabling remote control, is to have the keyboard/mouse attached to the tablet? I must be missing something obvious here…
Three simultaneous taps on the screen does not do anything. The only thing that works is to physically connect the detachable kb/mouse to the tablet, and then click the screen using the mouse.

No, you should be able to enable remote control with either a mouse click or 3 simultaneous taps to the viewer screen. Here is a link of how to initiate remote control via 3 simultaneous taps. For additional information, can you give the exact model of the Windows Tablet that you’re using? Thank you.

Quote from jj-mich on 06/11/2025, 15:03I understand that it should respond to the 3 finger touch, but it’s just not happening. The only way I can initiate remote control is by re-attaching the keyboard/mouse, or use a bluetooth mouse or something.

Which spacedesk Windows Viewer do you have installed in your Windows tablet, the MS Store version or the Windows 7 version that’s downloadable in the spacedesk Downloads page? Also, please send a screenshot of your spacedesk Viewer’s input settings. Please refer to the screenshots below. Thank you.

Quote from jj-mich on 07/11/2025, 15:39FWIW, I am not able to upload images from a MacBook. File upload doesn’t work as it says it is too big. Also the picture upload button has no option to select a picture. I am not able to drag drop or copy the picture here either…

Please also try the Windows 7 viewer and check if it suits your need. Thank you.

thx for the suggestion, it’s working great now!

At the moment, touching the screen just shows that green bar on top with various buttons instead of giving the option to take control. So, as a workaround for this bug, how about adding a button on that green bar that enables taking control when pressed, without having to press strange tap combinations that do not actually even work?
In my opinion, the Store app should not be the default Windows client recommended for installation since it has this issue. Or at least it should show a message about this bug on startup, and recommend installing the Windows 7 app instead. However, I notice that the Windows 7 app is marked as a beta on the download page. Recommending installing a beta app as a solution for the bug in the Store app is not ideal either. Especially since you probably can’t buy a license from it.
Despite not using the software for commercial purposes (I use it for Microsoft Flight Simulator to place various aircraft instruments on my tablets), I just bought an Android license for one concurrent connection since the Android app works without any issues, and I think you deserve the money.
I’m planning to upgrade to a 5 Android device license, as I have a few more Android devices I could connect to my PC in addition to the touch screen Windows client that has this issue, and getting rid of those annoying “no commercial use” messages would be nice. And I intent to buy a license for the Windows device too. But I would like to see this bug fixed, or a workaround implemented that doesn’t involve downloading a beta app that I would have to update manually, before I buy those additional licenses.
