video wall: viewer capped to 30 FPS (but 60 FPS was set)
Quote from Cyberfox on 01/11/2024, 20:29Hello,
first, thanks for this wonderful software 🙂
Currently, I’m testing the video wall functionality and even though the frame rate is set to 60 FPS on the viewer as well on the driver (within the video wall settings) the viewers fps will be capped at 30 FPS.
I tried to reduce the viewer’s resolution and disabled compression, to see if it may be a performance problem with the viewer’s pc, but it isn’t. When running the viewer not in video wall mode I can achieve something like 45 FPS but after switching to video wall mode, 30 FPS seems to be the maximum.
Any idea, how to fix it? Are there more settings which I could try to adjust?
thank you very much!
My setup:
spacedesk driver on Win
spacedesk viewer on Win
connection successfully established via LAN
video wall settings on driver: 60 FPS
viewer settings: also 60 FPS

did you also set the frame rate to 60 FPS in the video wall where you’ve assigned your viewer? Image attached below for your reference.

From the logs you sent, we can confirm that your videowall is set to 60 fps, and we cannot reproduce the issue on our end. How did you test your videowall to confirm that your viewer(s) are capped to 30 fps? From our testing, we can verify from small movements like moving the mouse pointer or the windows explorer window that the viewer can reach 60 fps. If you’re using a video to test, it depends on the video if it’s rendered in 30 fps or 60 fps. Can you try to clear spacedesk settings via the Driver console and see if it resolves your issue? Thank you.

alright, thanks for confirming the 60 FPS settings.
I tested moving the mouse cursor on the Desktop, there was no video involved. Sadly, I already tried clearing spacedesk settings.
Does it maybe depend on the windows display resolution setting, as I set the whole video wall to 4k, I also Set the display resolution on the driver’s pc to 4k to achieve full hd in the viewer. Could this be too much information to be send?
I was also thinking, maybe the pc of the viewer isn’t powerful enough, because it has really low hardware but still enough to fulfilled the minimum requirements.
Then I tested the same setup with another, more powerful pc. I could reach up to 53 FPS (or smth like this). I was still wondering why I can’t reach 60 FPS, because this pc is powerful.
So, could it be that the pc need more requirements for the video wall settings?

In the two instances where you used videowall, did you have the same network setup? Performance may be hindered by the network you’re using. You may refer to the documentation under the section Performance Tuning and follow the suggestions that are applicable to your set-up.
